The vote last night by Brookline’s Housing Advisory Board - or HAB - releasing $625 thousand from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund to prop up the Boston Archdiocese’s St. Aidan’s project was, of course, pro forma. The ballot was 4-1 (with Rita McNally voting no) that the funds be disbursed.
There’s a lot that can [...]

A Model Giveaway.

Looking through the list of Brookline-based donors to former Selectman Deborah Goldberg’s campaign for Lt. Governor, it’s not surprising that it reads like a Who’s Who of Brookline real estate development. They’re all there - Basile, Brown, Zuker, et. al.
The $3,000 in donations tied to Roger Cassin of Winn Development is surprising, though. Certainly, [...]

The Ideology of Money.

Word from the Globe has it that former Brookline Selectman Deborah Goldberg is pumping an additional $1 million of her personal fortune into her campaign for Massachusetts Lt. Governor.

Also on tap is a discussion a request to release [...]

With the opening of the warrant for the November Town Meeting (and with a deadline for submitting articles of August 30th), as a public service onbrookline.com offers a list of suggestions for Warrant Articles (local legislative bills) to right our municipal ship.
It’s not within my brief to submit articles, nor would they have a chance [...]

More St. Aidan’s.

By Jim Conley • Aug 2nd, 2006 • Category: News and Updates

According to Town Clerk Pat Ward, the Zoning Board of Appeals will be briefed by Town Counsel in executive session during their meeting tomorrow night. The ZBA has tentatively scheduled a public hearing (on St. Aidan’s) for August 24th.
Now, why Town Counsel Jennifer Dopazo is briefing the ZBA (presumably on a lawsuit where both [...]

Dog Chases Tail at St. Aidans.

Onbrookline.com is hearing that Brookline’s Housing Advisory Board (HAB) is set to release another $1.7 million in affordable housing funds to the Boston Archdiocese’s real estate development group for its St. Aidan’s project. Or so says this document circulated at HAB’s June meeting.
It’s not clear whether the total, or a portion of the $1.7 [...]
