About

A pragmatic orator told a great man in Athens that whenever the people were in their rage, they would certainly tear him to pieces. ‘Yes,’ says the other, ‘and they will do the same to you when they are in their wits.’ – Jonathan Swift

jc0001.jpgOn Brookline is a Web journal covering the Town of Brookline, Massachusetts. The blog is written by Jim Conley, formerly a columnist for the Brookline TAB Newspaper. In his three-and-a-half years writing for the TAB, Conley broke several stories that exposed the cronyism and ineptitude that defines Brookline Town Government.

On Brookline continues that tradition, while adding transparency in government for Brookline residents.

It’s the antidote to a town government that views the public as a bunch of chumps.

It can get pricey going up against Town Hall. There’s the time lost from more profitable enterprises, as well as significant expense in securing documents. Most document requests cost over $100 in “separation and segregation costs” (a financial obstacle to open access).

Then there’s the cost of host servers, ISPs and software programs.

Any help you can lend is appreciated.
