I’ve been told that Brookline’s chief engineer has “recalculated” the lost revenue from displaced parking at the lot hosting Brookline’s Farmer’s Market. The new calculations are reportedly lower than the $14 thousand presented to the Selectmen. Imagine that.
Seems like a lot of trouble for something that is “nothing but a rumor” (to quote Selectman’s Chair Gil Hoy.)
An aside: When the Market was moved to make way for the Marriott on Webster St., a condition of the redeployment had the Town providing a banner and “marketing signage.” I’ve been told the Town stopped providing that service.
Makes you wonder what the market gets for their $2,300 and why the Brookline Selectmen are surprised that some would question their deep affection for our local grower’s mart.
