What’s that saying on things too good to be true?
Looks like we could use it when it comes to the ground lease the town is negotiating with Children’s Hospital to build an “administrative building” at the site known as the B2 Parcel.
The deal hinges on a non-profit institution voluntarily agreeing to pay rent in lieu of taxes (on the fully assessed value of land and all improvements). Children’s will also, it is reported, be responsible for the environmental clean up at the site (we’ll see if they bear the cost when we get the proposed ground lease.)
The deal is going through the town’s vetting process, which means that the Economic Development Advisory Board will review it.
Sheez, why don’t we just give it to a 4th grade class at the Lincoln School and promise them an ice cream party if they approve the terms? Same effect.
I guess I don’t understand a world where a non-profit medical institution sees an expense from which they are exempt as a cost of doing business. Times must be really good in the taking care of the ill and infirmed business.

Jim,
You should have made it clear that you meant the NEW Lincoln School’s 4th grade class and NOT the OLD Lincoln School which may be classless even with its temporary occupancy.
