It seems that the efforts of civil libertarians to hem in a police dpartment run amok have paid off.
Wait a minute, you don’t think I’m talking about the abusive public indictment (sans proof) of a selectman by the Brookline Police Chief and Town Administrator?
No, I’m talking about the more enlightened community of Jena, Louisiana [see story].
There’s never been any hope that Brookline’s freedom hand wringers would address the violation of privacy and due process found with this month’s official smearing.
It’s just too hard.
